Consulting in 2009 after seventeen years as a
management-side labor and employment lawyer, with a
mission of providing a unique form of consulting
services, offering insight based on his years as both a
lawyer and an executive at a major corporation. RG
Sullivan Consulting provides a cost-effective way to
access years of high-level executive experience without
adding an executive to the payroll.
Background:
Ten years in practice as a management-side labor &
employment lawyer in Providence, Rhode Island, most
recently as a partner at one of the region’s premier law
firms.
Seven years as Vice President and Associate General
Counsel for Labor & Employment at one of the Nation’s
largest privately held companies, with $20 Billion in
revenue and as many as 20,000 employees.
Advised Human Resource leaders and personally handled
as well as supervised attorneys in handling all aspects
of labor and employment disputes, from agency matters to
litigation and appeals.
Veteran of numerous large-scale acquisitions,
including both union and non-union operations, involving
thousands of employees and dozens of union contracts.
Conducted HR training for Human Resource leaders and
attorneys on sexual harassment, FMLA administration, ADA
Compliance, e-mail use, union avoidance, employee
selection and other topics.
Negotiated and supervised outside attorneys in
negotiating numerous facility closures.
Negotiated dozens of collective bargaining agreements.
Defended and supervised outside attorneys in the
handling of hundreds of administrative matters,
including charges of discrimination, unfair labor
practice cases and arbitrations.
Maintained positive working relationships with local
and international unions around the Country, including
the Teamsters, Longshoremen, United Food and Commercial
Workers, and others.
Provided mentoring and day-to-day counseling to dozens
of HR professionals.
